What we collect

We collect account basics such as email, first name, your confirmation that you are 18 or older, and an optional gender used only for partner filtering. We also collect the climbing profile details you provide, including types, grades, belay and gear details, availability, photos, home area, current climbing area, carpool preferences, parking passes, and an optional Instagram connection, including its account identifier, authorized token, and up to six recent post previews. When you use related features, we collect location coordinates, messages, feedback, reports, purchase records, and device information used for notifications and support, including your push token, platform, app version, and last-seen time.

How location works

Location is how Climb On finds climbing partners near you or in an area you pick. Other climbers only see your general area name and a rounded distance, never your precise coordinates, and distances shown to others are rounded to at least one mile.

What others see

Your profile can show your first name, home area, current climbing area, rounded distance, climbing types and grades, belay and gear details, availability, photos, climb count, carpool preference, parking passes, and up to six recent Instagram photos and the account link you chose to connect. Gender never appears on your profile; it only decides whether you appear in gender-filtered searches.

How we use data

We use data to find climbers nearby, run chat, reporting and blocking, notifications, purchases, support, reports, and guideline enforcement, and to improve the product with aggregate, de-identified usage patterns. We do not sell your personal data. The Climb On website sets no third-party tracking cookies and does not track you across other sites.

Who we share with

Apple handles Apple sign-in, purchases, and push delivery; Google handles Google sign-in; Meta handles an optional Instagram connection; Resend delivers account and opted-in climbing emails. Railway hosts the database, application services, and private media storage. These providers receive the information needed for the features you use. We do not send your profile or messages to a third-party advertising, analytics, or matching service, and we do not sell your personal data. We may disclose data when required by law or to protect people from imminent harm.

Adults only

Climb On is for adults. You confirm that you are 18 or older when you sign up. We do not knowingly keep accounts for anyone younger; if you think a minor has an account, contact us and we will investigate and remove it when appropriate.

Your controls

You can edit profile fields, pause discovery, control notification channels, unsubscribe from marketing, and delete your account in Settings. Account deletion removes your profile, photos, connections, chats, and stats, subject to limited records we must retain for legal, accounting, fraud-prevention, or guideline-enforcement reasons.

Retention and security

Profiles and conversations persist in our database. Deleting an account removes its active climbing records and queues stored photos for removal; temporary storage failures are retried. Recovery backups are held separately with restricted access. Provider connections use encrypted tokens, and network requests use HTTPS. Purchase and provider records are also governed by the applicable provider's policies.
